You could have the best photographer in the world, but with modern customer expectations, the retoucher is now busier than ever. Colours have to be accurately matched, blemishes removed and details highlighted.
Speaking to our post-production apprentice Oliver, his job (alongside the rest of the team) is to ensure that all images are absolutely perfect before they’re sent to client. This is done by retouching. Models are made to appear flawless, with all blemishes and stray hairs removed. Clothing also gets the same treatment: unwanted creases are removed, and they can be retouched to ensure they fit the model perfectly.
Photo retouchers can be hard to come by, as it’s a skilled job that takes time to perfect. A few months ago, our team turned around a huge job for JD Sports in just two days, ensuring all images were perfect and ready to go on JD’s website.
